If you need to move cars, then it's clear that a tractor-trailer is the best option. When you buy a car, it will probably be shipped around the country by one of these huge machines, so it is important to have some kind of understanding about the process. Be it a full trailer or a semi trailer, the tractor-trailer is a must when transporting vehicles. A full trailer, also known as A-Frame drawbar trailer, is pulled by a drawbar. Both of the axles, front and back, feature support structures. It is not common to use full trailers for transporting vehicles unless a great distance needs to be covered. Bigger loads need bigger machines, so large loads are handled by the full trailer instead of the semi. However, they are quite difficult to maneuver because of their front and rear axle and their size. With measurements of 23 meters by 4.15 meters by 2.6 meters, full trailers are massive! In contrast to full trailers, semi-trailers only have a rear axle. The tractor which pulls the semi supports the front part of the trailer, avoiding excessive weight behind the tractor. The vehicle pulling the trailer takes some of the weight of the semi-trailer and onto its rear axle. If you want to move cars, then the semi-trailer is the one for you. Because they are not as long as the full trailer, they are easier to maneuver on the road, and their having just a rear axle makes them easier to reverse. Whether you need to transport vehicles around the block or across the country, a semi-trailer is ready for the job. Semi-trailers are full of unexpected bonuses. It is so easy to couple and uncouple semi-trailers. Should something go wrong with your primary mover, simply couple the semi onto another engine and keep on working. Despite these positives, the semi-trailer does have some problems. Certain designs of semi-trailers will not be able to overcome snow. The pros clearly outweigh the cons, as the vast majority of auto shippers favor semi-trailers. 12 cars in one trip is a figure that validates the use of tractor-trailers. Hydraulic ramps, which can be raised or lowered, allow shippers to load cars efficiently. Due to tilt ramps, many trailers can store more cars in a smaller space as one car slides in below another. Trailer drivers of a Car Transport company are tasked with loading and unloading the vehicles. The driver should load the trailer so that vehicles may be accessed in the order they will be delivered. To avoid excessive loading and unpacking, cars that are due to be delivered first on the trip will be loaded last and vice versa. Not all auto transport trailers are designed the same, and so various packing strategies are needed. Ramp design dictates whether cars are driven onto the trailer in reverse or not. The driver must have the skill to make use of all available space and deliver the cars in perfect condition.
